Step 1: Feeding

  • Purpose:      To uniformly and continuously feed raw rocks into the crusher, like steadily feeding a "rock-eating beast." This is the first step in ensuring efficient and stable operation of the production line.

  • Main Equipment: Vibrating Feeder. It uses vibration to evenly screen and transport raw rocks from the hopper to the next equipment, effectively preventing material clogging.


Step 2: Primary Crushing

  • Purpose: To process huge raw rocks from the quarry (which can be dozens of      centimeters or even over a meter in diameter) for the first      "dismantling," breaking them down into rocks generally under a few hundred millimeters.

  • Main Equipment: Jaw Crusher. Known as the workhorse of primary crushing, it works like an animal's jaw, crushing material between a fixed and a movable jaw plate. It is known for its simple structure, robustness, and reliability.



Step 3: Secondary & Tertiary Crushing

  • Purpose: To further crush the rocks from the primary stage into smaller aggregates      (usually less than 50mm) for subsequent screening and sand making. This stage determines the shape and quality of the final aggregate products.

  • Main Equipment:

    • Cone Crusher: Ideal for crushing hard and abrasive rocks (e.g., granite, basalt). It uses compression crushing (layer pressing), offers good wear resistance, and produces well-shaped particles, but has a higher initial cost.

    • Impact Crusher: Suitable for medium to low hardness rocks (e.g., limestone). It utilizes impact energy to break rocks, producing a better, more cubicle particle shape, but wear parts may consume faster.



Step 4: Screening

  • Purpose: This is the "sorting" stage. Multi-deck screens separate the mixed crushed material into different sized fractions, producing various specifications of finished stone products (e.g., 0-5mm, 5-10mm, 10-20mm).

  • Process: The oversize material is returned to the crusher for further processing; the undersize (qualified aggregate) moves to the next process or is stored as finished product.

  • Main Equipment: Vibrating Screen.


Step 5: Sand Making

  • Purpose: This is the key stage that distinguishes "crushing" from  "sand making." Its task is to further crush and shape small  rocks (usually 5-50mm) to produce manufactured sand of  0-5mm or even finer.

  • Main Equipment: Vertical Shaft Impact (VSI) Crusher,  commonly known as a sand maker. It operates on the  "rock-on-rock" or "rock-on-iron" principle, where material is accelerated by a high-speed rotor and thrown against a stationary wall or other particles, resulting in crushing and shaping. It is the core equipment for producing high-quality manufactured sand.


Step 6: Sand Washing

  • Purpose: To remove excess fine dust, clay, and impurities from the manufactured      sand, improving its purity and quality to meet the requirements of  high-standard construction sand (e.g., for ready-mix concrete).

  • Main Equipment: Wheel Sand Washer or Spiral Sand Washer. They use water flow and friction to wash away impurities.
